About the role.
We are seeking an experienced AI Integration Engineer with a strong background in building and configuring Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. This role involves integrating MCP servers with Databricks and LLM-based applications, focusing on designing secure connectors and optimizing data retrieval. The ideal candidate will enable AI models to safely access enterprise data and analytical tools through robust MCP-based architecture, ensuring data governance and performance.
What you will do.
- Design, build, and maintain secure connectors and data pipelines between Databricks workspaces and MCP servers.
- Integrate Databricks components such as Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, and Managed MLflow with MCP-based systems.
- Implement and configure MCP servers/clients to securely expose Databricks data, schemas, and analytical tools to AI models and LLM applications.
- Optimize data retrieval, caching mechanisms, and query performance between Databricks and LLM orchestration frameworks to reduce latency.
- Ensure all data exposed through MCP servers follows enterprise data governance, access controls, and Unity Catalog permissions.
- Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, and software architects to define context, tools, and prompts required for LLM applications.
- Establish robust logging, monitoring, error handling, and alerting for Databricks-MCP middleware.
- Troubleshoot integration, performance, and protocol-level issues across MCP servers, Databricks, and LLM applications.
What you bring.
- 5+ years of overall experience in software engineering, data engineering, AI engineering, or related technology roles.
- Proven hands-on experience building, configuring, or extending MCP servers using Python or TypeScript/Node.js SDKs.
- Strong experience connecting LLMs with external data sources and enterprise tools.
- Deep production experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, and Managed MLflow.
- Strong understanding of MCP architecture and communication protocols.
- Good knowledge of SSE (Server-Sent Events), WebSockets, and JSON-RPC 2.0.
- Experience working with secure APIs, middleware, authentication, authorization, and enterprise data access controls.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
