About the role.
As a Unix Administrator within the Technical Operations Center, you will play a critical role in maintaining the stability and performance of global infrastructure services. This position involves managing Unix/Linux environments, storage systems, and backup operations in a 24/7 rotational shift model. You will be responsible for incident and change management, ensuring that data protection and system availability meet rigorous service level agreements.
What you will do.
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for Unix/Linux server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Configure and maintain SAN/NAS storage systems and manage backup and archive processes.
- Perform proactive monitoring of system health and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Execute change management procedures and maintain accurate technical documentation for infrastructure operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex incidents and implement technical initiatives.
- Utilize ServiceNow and JIRA to track incidents, service requests, and project tasks.
- Contribute to security best practices and ensure compliance with global infrastructure standards.
- Participate in a 24/7 rotational shift schedule to provide global support coverage.
What you bring.
- Strong proficiency in Unix/Linux system administration, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise storage solutions, specifically Hitachi storage, and backup management using Veritas.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS concepts, LTO, S3 object storage, and block storage.
- Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting (LAN/WAN) and monitoring.
- Experience with automation tools such as Python or Ansible is highly desirable.
- Understanding of ITIL/ITSM frameworks and experience with ServiceNow and JIRA.
- Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certification or CCNA/CCNP/CCIE are preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, global environment.
