About the role.
We are seeking a highly experienced Semantic Layer Architect to design, develop, and govern enterprise semantic layers. This role is crucial for establishing consistent business metrics, enabling self-service analytics, and optimizing data access across various reporting and analytics platforms. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's data architecture and ensuring data consistency and quality.
What you will do.
- Design and implement enterprise semantic layers using platforms like Cube.dev, AtScale, Microsoft Fabric Semantic Models, Power BI Semantic Models, LookML, and dbt Semantic Layer
- Create governed business metrics, KPI definitions, reusable dimensions, measures, and calculated metrics
- Design enterprise-level dimensional models, star schemas, snowflake schemas, and business-friendly semantic models
- Establish conformed dimensions and reusable business entities, collaborating with Data Architects on model alignment
- Create subject-area semantic domains for Finance, Risk, Customer Analytics, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations
- Enable self-service analytics across BI tools and simplify access to enterprise metrics for business users
- Establish metric governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data catalog integration
- Optimize query performance, design caching and acceleration mechanisms, and support large-scale analytical workloads
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Modelers, BI Developers, Product Owners, and Business SMEs
- Mentor engineering teams on semantic modeling best practices and conduct architecture reviews
What you bring.
- 9–15 years of experience in semantic layer design and implementation
- Proficiency with semantic layer platforms such as Cube.dev and AtScale
- Strong expertise in dimensional modeling, star schema, and snowflake schema design
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with Python, YAML, JSON, and REST APIs
- Experience with cloud data platforms like Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Familiarity with BI and analytics tools including Power BI, Tableau, Looker, ThoughtSpot, and Sigma
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience implementing enterprise semantic layers and governed KPI frameworks
- Understanding of metadata-driven architectures, lineage tracking, and business glossaries
- Strong competencies in Enterprise Data Architecture, Analytics Engineering, and Semantic Modeling
