About the role.
This senior leadership role focuses on designing, developing and improving high-quality software solutions that deliver business, platform and technology capabilities. You will set technical direction, drive requirements and influence strategy while guiding peers and teams toward scalable, secure and maintainable engineering practices. The role also involves managing stakeholder relationships, communicating complex ideas effectively and ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk requirements.
What you will do.
- Design, develop and deliver high-quality, scalable and performance-optimised Java software solutions using industry-aligned frameworks and tools
- Define software requirements and solution strategies in collaboration with product managers, designers and engineers to ensure alignment with business objectives
- Lead code reviews and promote a culture of code quality, knowledge sharing and technical excellence
- Architect and build microservices and RESTful APIs, driving redesign and simplification of existing applications
- Adhere to secure coding practices and implement effective unit testing to ensure reliability and protect sensitive data
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab and TeamCity
- Advise senior stakeholders on functional and cross-functional impact, managing risks and strengthening controls
- Mentor and coach engineers, and lead people management responsibilities where applicable, including performance and development
What you bring.
- 16 to 22 years of software engineering experience with deep proficiency in Java and development of Java-based applications
- Proven experience in microservices architecture, RESTful API development and designing scalable backend applications
- Proficiency in both Linux and Windows Server operating systems
- Familiarity with the complete software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab pipelines and TeamCity
- Proven ability to redesign applications and drive simplification efforts
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills; bachelor's degree minimum
