About the role.
As an Infrastructure Engineer at Vice President level, you will lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure platforms, with a focus on block and file storage, enterprise backup and recovery, and observability. You will apply software engineering, automation and SRE practices to ensure high availability of critical services, while providing technical direction and influencing strategy across cross-functional teams. This role combines hands-on expertise with strategic leadership, risk governance and stakeholder engagement.
What you will do.
- Design, build and maintain high-quality storage and backup infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements for reliability, performance and availability
- Monitor infrastructure and system performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues, vulnerabilities and outages while driving down mean time to resolution
- Develop and implement automation using Python, PowerShell, APIs and infrastructure-as-code to reduce manual effort and improve operational consistency
- Define and apply SRE practices including SLO/SLI definition, error budgets, toil reduction and post-incident learning
- Establish observability strategies for storage and backup services, including metrics, logs, traces, dashboards and alerting
- Implement secure configurations and data protection controls such as encryption, immutability, ransomware recovery and least-privilege access
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, application, cybersecurity and service management teams to define requirements and ensure seamless integration
- Set technical direction, guide and coach specialists, and contribute to strategy, budgets and policy governance
- Manage and mitigate operational and technology risks, strengthening controls and governance across the team's work
- Stay informed of industry trends in storage, backup, cloud and containerised platforms, and contribute to technical excellence within the organisation
What you bring.
- 14–22 years of experience in infrastructure engineering with a strong focus on enterprise storage and data protection
- Demonstrated expertise in block storage technologies (SAN, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, multipathing, zoning) and end-to-end troubleshooting
- Strong hands-on experience with file storage platforms (NFS/SMB, permissions, snapshots, replication, scalability)
- Proven capability in enterprise backup and recovery engineering, including policy design, retention, restore validation and disaster recovery readiness
- Solid experience applying SRE principles such as error budgets, SLO/SLI definition, toil reduction and automation-first operations
- Strong observability experience with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards and alerting for storage and backup services
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a track record of influencing across infrastructure, application, cybersecurity and service management teams
- Desirable: scripting and automation with Python/PowerShell, API integrations or infrastructure-as-code
- Desirable: knowledge of cloud storage and backup concepts, ITIL/service management practices, and VMware or Kubernetes storage concepts
